Our breeding program is based on quality over quantity. Through careful and dedicated study, we strive to consistently produce outstanding shows dogs who posses a natural hunting ability and are sound in temperament. We started with a solid foundation of excellence and wish to continue building on the successes of the people who have handed down the pedigrees we work with today.

Each litter is carefully planned. Our philosophy has always been to breed to the individual, not to the individual’s show and/or field record. This dedication has meant careful research of available texts and pedigrees, visiting other’s kennels, and attending dog events across the nation.

Our puppies are raised in the house until they are old enough to be moved to our special puppy runs to assure good hygiene and lots of quality socialization by many Rao Farms employees, families and friends - young and old. Their runs and play yards are designed to help speed up potty training when they go to their new homes. They are also exposed to many different situations and opportunities to grow their young minds. More important than any show win or hunting experience is that they are stable, social companions.

Prior to breeding any of our dogs, they are tested clear of genetic defects through OFA hip and elbow x-rays and eye CERF exams at a minimum. Our goal is to produce a mentally and physically sound Brittany with correct breed type, the grounding-eating stride necessary to a sporting breed, and is a joy to own, show and hunt over.

Puppies and older dogs are sold by private treaty after careful screening. Please feel free to review our Puppy Contract and Questionnaire for Potential Buyers. We take considerable time and effort in placing the right puppy in the right home. That is one of the many reasons why it is important to us to know what you are looking for in your new Brittany.

We offer a few handsome males at public stud. This website features those currently available for your consideration. Either natural breedings, extended semen breedings or frozen semen breedings are available. Our veterinarian is qualified to handle all phases of artificial insemination. Bitches must be OFA Hips & Elbow certified, have a recent eye exam and brucellosis test and be accompanied by a veterinarian’s certificate showing freedom from all internal and external parasites. We are served by General Mitchell International Airport in Milwaukee. We board our visiting bitches either in the manager’s home or in our kennel where they are secure from possible mismatings, and are hand walked several times a day and spoiled rotten.
